Capital Improvements Program Forum
Montgomery Parks is seeking public input on its Capital Improvement Program (CIP) for fiscal years 2027 – 2032 (FY27-32). Community suggestions for the upcoming CIP may be submitted online, via email, U.S. mail, or in person at the public forum.
The public forum takes place Thursday, September 11, 2025, at 7 p.m. at the Wheaton Headquarters of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), 2425 Reedie Drive, Wheaton, MD 20902.
The CIP is prepared every two years to cover a six-year cycle and funds new parks and park amenities, environmental restoration, and rehabilitation projects that increase the life of assets.

Community Engagement Report
Review staff proposed funding scenario(s) for the FY27-32 CIP and provide any additional guidance to parks staff prior to adoption.
Capital Improvement Program 2027 -2033 Outreach Report
Montgomery Parks hosted a survey from July 8 - September 9, 2025, asking the public to submit ideas on what they would like to see in their parks.
Over 500 people responded to the survey. This report features an overview of the ideas submitted.
The next phase in this project will be strategy sessions with the Planning Board to fine-tune the Capital Improvements Program items.
The most common themes and requests from respondents included:
- More Shade in Parks and Playgrounds
- Splash Pads and Water Features
- Bathrooms and Water Fountains
- Park Maintenance and Renovation
- Fenced-in Playgrounds and Dog Parks
- Pickleball Courts
- Bocce Courts
- Trail Improvements and Connectivity
- Equity and Geographic Distribution
Additional Amenities Requested
- More benches/seating (especially shaded)
- Exercise equipment/outdoor fitness stations
- Community gardens
- Improved lighting for evening use
- More inclusive/accessible features for people with disabilities
- More sports fields (soccer, cricket, baseball)
- More programming/events in parks -
-Environmental Stewardship
- More disc golf courses
- More themed playgrounds
- More small “pocket” parks for community gathering
Overall, the most consistent priorities are: more shade; more splash pads/water features; improved bathrooms; better maintenance/renovation of existing parks; increased safety through fencing; more dog parks and pickleball/bocce courts; improved trail connectivity; and greater equity in park improvements across the county.
